Distracted Muse...

So I'll admit it, my muse has more loves than writing. Usually (about 95 % of the time) the written word holds domain in my little creative world, but lately I've been doing a lot of handcrafts. Especially knitting (which is strangely and wonderfully addictive). I needed a little non-writing break after another writing-heavy quarter of school (and yes, forced essays sap the muse of her spirit), so playing with pretty yarn for a couple days was rather nice.

I'd put up a picture of what I've been knitting, but it's for a friend's birthday, and I don't know whether or not she has a link to this blog! Now I think I'm ready to dive back into the world of writing, though. I've been missing it, even though all the school writing has gotten a little exhausting for me. Another reason I'm glad I'm pretty much done with school—now I can concentrate on the writing that's really in my heart.

I always need a creative outlet! Mostly it's writing, but when I need a break it has recently been taking photos. It used to be art, and graphic arts and craft cards after that. :) Maybe one day I'll try something new. :) :)

It's always been interesting for me to see that there are a lot of writers who, like me, find distractions before they sit down to write. Why is this? I love writing. It's my favorite thing to do. So why do I postpone it?

I'm really glad you're through with your 'serious school' writing. I totally get what you mean by it. Writing reports is not fun for me.

As for me, other creative outlets include reading (sometimes re-reading) my favorite books, taking pictures like Kelly, or when I need to join the land of the living, iced coffee with friends. Gabbing is soup for the soul. :)

Thanks for the comments, Kelly and Ella! I'd love to get into photography sometime. I feel like to do it right I'd need something more than my little digital camera. I love the simplicity of digital cameras, of course, and I've taken some decent pictures with them, but nothing too fancy. Graphic art has always kind of called to me, too, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to that as well!

I don't know why we postpone writing, Ella! For me sometimes I feel like writing is such a craft, and I'm not always up to that level energy-wise, so I have to work myself up to it. See? Though that's definitely not the case all the time, thank heavens! ;)
